“I Didn’t Make the Last Season of The Chosen. Then God Did This"

Not Planned by Me

If you're new here, The Chosen is "the first-ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus," one that "allows us to see Him through the eyes of those who knew Him." I got to be part of it as a background actor for seasons 5 and 6.

When the time came to sign up to become once again a background actor for the last season, I unfortunately did not make it. I admit my heart felt crushed, as the resurrection had become a deeper and meaningful part of my journey. I was looking forward to being on set, in the hope to be blessed with more wonderful experiences like the ones I had already received.

However, after the disappointment, I decided to trust God that whatever I truly needed this year will open up. I also knew that me not being on set meant someone else gets to be on. Who knows, maybe they needed that experience more than me. The Lord comforted me with the reminder that His presence is always accessible, anytime, anywhere, and the best gift.

Last month I wasn't even planning to be in Utah. It was a last-minute plane ride to accompany my husband to his work convention.

Friday morning went as planned. We swam at the Homestead Crater in Midway, a warm spring inside a rock dome. It was the cleanest I ever felt. Like my body and mood were at an all-time high.

Then my plans for the rest of the day were completely flipped. I kept noticing it and realized, alright, I think Jesus is trying to direct me somewhere else.

Til this. 😜

My husband and I were visiting the Olympic museum in Park City, not something I was planning to be at, when my phone started buzzing nonstop. I usually ignore these notifications. This time the constant buzz led me to open the messages. One of the background actors in our group chat had followed a prompting to share, and the first thing I saw was "The Chosen movie tonight."

I thought to myself, that is not possible. It's not supposed to come out until November 15.

Then I noticed one of my dearest friends, Jenny, who at the time was boarding a plane to get back to Utah, was interested in attending this viewing of the first episode of Season 6. And I missed her.

My husband and I ended up showing up at this place, and who was sitting in front of us? Jenny, my dear friend I met on The Chosen set in season 5.

And to our delightful surprise, Elijah Alexander, who plays Atticus, the Roman spy, was also there to watch it with us and do a Q&A afterward. He shared a very powerful testimony of his own journey with Christ and his conversion, with words of wisdom and encouragement.

He shared how he experienced Jesus coming through the actor Jonathan Roumie, giving him words that reached his soul in ways Jonathan could not possibly have known.

It really was so moving. Another testimony Jesus works with everyone.

Without knowing it, Elijah gave me the piece I had been looking for since the beginning of this year. A witness. I too have seen Christ on set in ways that still blow me away. Hearing Elijah, I knew that what I experienced did indeed happen. I needed it.

Nothing was going the way I planned, but the Lord made it up with so many sweet experiences and people since, including that night. The timing could not have been more divinely appointed. It was our Friday night gift from Jesus and Father. All these "last-minute" moves were completely divine orchestration. I stopped believing in coincidences a long time ago, as I realized God's hands in my life.

To my friend who followed the prompting to share: thank you.

Write it down

With time, our brain and the whispers in our ears tell us that whatever we saw and experienced wasn't true, or wasn't possible.

Yet it did happen.

It's the same reason we have scriptures. The greatest life experiences were written down, their stories preserved, or the whole world would have completely missed out on the wonders of Jesus.

What have you seen or experienced with Him that you need to write down, before time tells you it wasn't real?

Not planned by me for sure. Jesus is the Best. Can't wait for the rest of season 6. Don't forget to record your personal journey even if you think you don't have a relationship with God start now all he wants is you, your heart nothing else. Come to Jesus.
